Old Times (Tempo Doeloe). As my father may have seen it when he just arrived in  Indonesia in the early nineteen-thirties and he apparently stayed for some time in the town.

Kauman Kudus near Semarang. With beautiful Javanese houses which I could not get properly on a photo. The gates were too narrow and the inner gardens too small.

China Town and the old port area. Here you also can find many old Dutch buildings. Most buildings on my father's photo's we found back. It was fun to search.

Gedung Batu. The place where Cheng Ho landed on Java. Three religions are worshipped here, each with their own shrine; side by side: Mohammed, Confucius and Buddha. Cheng Ho is supposed to be the first person to spread Islam on Java.
