This village is like Sungsang built on the water. The main street gets now a concrete floor (instead of wood), paid by the local government.
As the mangrove is protected , it is not allowed to expand the shrimp culture ponds. That will put a heavy strain for the future as also in Sembilang village birth control is out of reach here.
The real players are found in the evening.
Most of this sale seems to go straight to Malaysia
This might be an alternative when overfishing in the coastal area might become a problem. This is a trial of Dinas Perikanan (Fishery department)
The Park is constantly under heavy pressure and threats for illegal logging and fish/shrimp pond construction. The excessive population increases in the area will put an extra strain on the National Park

This is a transmigration area of 30,000 ha for constructed from a loan of the World Bank. As its design criteria are proposed only for the first 10 years after construction, it is high time for an upgrade of this project, although the farmers in majority fair well.
